As Prescott's Super 7 first big summer tournament gets ever closer, the entry criteria gets ever more interesting. With 24 places available the expectation is the top 12 in the league have a chance of qualification, with the top 4 automatically promoted and the remaining 8 going into playoffs. Complicate this by all 4 semi finalists of the 4 cup competitions all qualifying, so this extends the league positions available. In the event cup competitions have the same qualifying players, this further extends the league route, potentially also increasing the need for more play off matches needed, as only the top 4 league players not in a cup competition can automatically qualify.

Confused ???

We imagine you are so we've decided to produce an up to date list every so often of who is in. This list shoud be finite by season's end, but things don't end there. PS7 want active players for this competition, so before the play offs begin (likely to be centered around various real cup competition final matches) we'll actually invite qualifying players to play. If you don't respond to or decline the invite, then non qualifying players get offered a chance. Here are the current qualifiers. Firstly by A to Z and then by league and cup order.

LEAGUE CUP UPDATE

Well, what a weekend of cup action, both in real life and for this game.

Same phrase we used last time but it's true.

You kind of thought Mancester City would go through and whilst Chelsea had their chances they should have done much better at finishing. Meanwhile, you have to feel for Coventry. Manchester United were awful and Coventry were cruely denied by a tight offside and the crossbar before losing 4-2 on pens.

Here's what it all means.

So whilst James Kelly and Jerome Suarez both successfully predicted the FA Cup Semi Final winners, James got his submission in first so he goes through to the Final.

Meanwhile Michael Clarke secures a BYE as his opponent Michael Corin did not submit an entry.

James Kelly and Michael Clarke will contest the final on Sat 25 May 2024.

They won't be on their own as this match is expected to form one of many making up the play off matches to decide EURO Super 7 spots.

The Final will feature Manchester City versus Manchester United. KO TBC.

Details of the final including the sub link expected on Mon 13 May 2024.

WHAT WE CHANGED MID SEASON

The PS7 Board has considered all feedback provided and has made the following decisions regarding the remainder of this season.

1) 4 tiered league system scrapped.

2) Forfeit Points System scrapped.

3) 75% Prize Entitlement Scrapped.

4) One league for all and points re-issued for each correct prediction since the beginning of the season, including correct score outcomes for first 15 weeks and game outcomes for remaining weeks.

5) The Easter Break will include a league week as well as The Easter Trophy.

6) Whilst next season is still under development, there is almost certain to be one league for all. Possibly multiple cups, but potentially not being played at the same time.

7) League Table update and release of following week's sub link to be same day. This will generally be Wednesday or could be slightly earlier or slightly later depending on chosen matches and PS7 Board member holidays/sickness.

8) The planned cup competitions for this season have/are/will taken/taking/take place as usual.

9) Whilst the EURO Super 7 initial entry list will be based on league and cup places, this competition will be by invite, so if you decline the invite, the competition will be opened up to those in the next league positions until all 24 spots are filled.

9) The format for next season will still be based on your feedback and we're now getting in touch to get your further views and opinions on the game.

10) League Table positions are calculated by the following ... a) Points b) Week last played. If based on this criteria positions are still tied and the position determines entry to another competition, the players will play off in a deciding week round to determine the place.

We Changed Things, It Didn't Work, So We Changed Again

Daniel Prescott explains PS7 changes.

The founder of this great game has always been amazed at the level of interest early on and wants three things to happen throughout the course of every player's season.

1 Like The Game

2 Play The Game

3 Win The Game

The first season was always going to be one of trial and error and we hope we've now found a sweet spot for the remainder of the season. Its paramount that players like the game and feel they are part of something that makes football more meaningful to them. Its vital players play the game. We know we've had a tendency to make things complicated and changes over recent weeks were only considered for the benefit of players and their game engagement. We realise now keeping things simple is a better approach. The easier the game is to play, the more likely you will. With winning though you do have to be better at the game than anyone else and we were conscious early on that players who had a bad start to the season soon lost interest. So whilst we are considering one league for the whole season, we're still thinking multiple cup competitions are the way to go. Perhaps one after another so that you regularly have something to play for.

Lets just keep an eye on things though and see how things go. Daniel will ask for your feedback again towards the end of the season so that the PS7 Board can plan for next season.

You should also make sure that you're registered for next season to get everything you need before we get going.
