CHAMPIONS CUP FINAL

Brett Bainbridge beats Callum Henson 2.5 to 1.5 as Real Madrid claim their 15th European Cup/Champions League title.

Wembley saw a typical Real performance, absorbing pressure from the 5th placed team in the Bundesliga this season, Borussia Dortmund, who came so close to scoring early on. Two opportunities, in particular, will haunt them. Karim Adeyemi tried to go around Thibaut Courtois but that only made the chance more difficult. Niclas Fullkrug did beat the goalkeeper but not his far post. It was late in the second half, as is typical with Madrid, where they sealed their fate. Two combined for the opening goal. Toni Kroos, in the final club game of his career, crossed for Carvajal to head in. Jude Bellingham toiled for much of the match, the muscle stretches indicating that he was less than fully fit. But he went on to provide the assist for the second goal, sinking to the ground in tears of joy. He would go on to call this the best night of his young life. Vinicius Junior ended any hope of a Dortmund comeback. Like Bellingham, he was not at his best but he was ruthless. "The momentum turned around and you see why they are champions," said Terzic, the Dortmund boss. A set-piece goal here and a stray Dortmund pass there was all it took to bend another final Carlo Ancelotti's way. The result is that Sir Alex Ferguson remains the last manager to defeat Real Madrid in a European final - with Aberdeen over 40 years ago now.

Well done Brett! You deserved some silverware this season.

So Callum and Brett will both play in the EURO Super 7, with the potential for each of them to do a double, alongside Michael Clarke, the League Cup Winner and Boniswa Kubeka, the Easter Trophy winner. The competition gets underway on 14 Jun 2024 and these 4 players and 20 other opponents will learn tomorrow which national team they will represent in PS7's first ever BIG summer tournament.

Thanks to everybody who has competed in all the cup competitions this season. We hope you enjoyed them.
